Be a part of an exciting Thriving & Surviving Summer Camp next week at Swinburn Elementary School. Students entering 1st – 8th grade are invited to play and learn at the Thriving & Surviving Summer Camp! Each day we’ll have different speakers and fun exercises and crafts to learn about healthy living. Registration is limited. Plan to attend our Swisher County "HomeGrown" Festival on next Thursday evening, June 24 (not July 24) from 6:30-8pm at Swinburn Elementary School. At this event, we will have 20-minute education demonstrations regarding healthy foods that you can grow and prepare at your own home…for your own family and your neighbors. We want to offer a new vision for Swisher County (fashioned from Tulia’s current slogan)…The Richest Soil…The Healthiest People!
The 2nd annual Swisher County Barbeque Cookoff is scheduled for June 25th and 26th at Tule Creek Park. If you are interested in entering your Ribs, Brisket, Chicken and Beans, please Contact Cade Lange @ 627-7142(cell) or 668-4658(home) after 6 or just leave a message. Cookoff is sanctioned by the Lone Star Barbecue Society and the cookoff and entry form is listed on the website www.lonestarbarbecue.com . We abide by all Rules and Regulations of the Society. The First Baptist Church cordially invites the children of the community who have attended kindergarten through 6th grade to attend Vacation Bible School, June 21st thru June 25th from 1:30 until 4:30 p.m. each day at their church located at Crosby and Broadway. Swisher County Picnic is scheduled for July 17th. Tulia Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring the Picnic Parade, which will be on that date at 10:00 am. Tulia's Summer Celebration, Hosted by KFDA Newschannel 10, will be Friday, July 23rd. It will be at Tulia's Downtown Square with food, games, fabulous music by The Tommy Gallagher Band, face painting, and newscasts at 5, 6, and 10:00 pm. Live vocal auditions for Amarillo's Star Competition will be held that evening. Forms for the auditions can be picked up at the Tulia Chamber of Commerce. Call 995-2296 for further info. Invite friends, neighbors, and anyone you think might need a lift and inspiration in their life. Tell them about the revival/crusade coming up August 28th through September lst. There will be music, inspirational speakers. God will be there, so expect some miracles. So tell some people to ride with you and you will not regret it. It will be free of charge at Younger athletic field in Tulia and will have eternal implications. Start planning now, and talk to involved people and churches about opportunities to serve the Lord. Soon you will start seeing t-shirts and banners around town advertising this major event in church history.
